Scholarships for the European Forum Alpbach 2010

Bookmark and Share
Scholarships are available for students and recent graduates up to 30 years of age. We welcome applications from all countries and
academic disciplines. Our main objective is to ensure the participation of many young people in the entire event.

The combination of academic seminars followed by symposiums and short courses on specific topics reflects the special character of the
European Forum Alpbach.

Please take into account that there are different scholarships programmes for the Alpbach Summer Schools on European
Integration and on Health Care and Social System, and that you can apply only either for the European Forum Alpbach or for
one of the Summer Schools.
Deadline for scholarship application: April 16, 2010 (postmark)

Scholarship Value
Usually the scholarship covers tuition fees only. For applicants from Central, East and Southeast Europe, a contribution to the
accommodation expenses and, as an exception, per-diems may also be included.
Travel costs have to be borne by the participants.

Application Requirements
Letter of Motivation
Please submit a one-page text which explains your reasons for the scholarship application. Please give evidence of your ongoing
interest in the contents and topics of the European Forum Alpbach.
The essential features to be included in the letter of motivation are:
a) A critical examination of your ideas and perspectives concerning the European integration process and of the fundamental ideas of
the European Forum Alpbach;
b) A comment on your personal thoughts and ideas about the topics of the current programme.
All applicants composing a contribution to the project “Europe 2057” (see www.alpbach.org/scholarships) will be allowed to limit the
letter of motivation to the personal part (b), if the project contribution is attached to the application.

Curriculum Vitae
The commitment to translating academic knowledge into practical experience should be emphasised.

Certificates and Transcripts
Please attach copies of relevant school and university certificates, as well as copies of relevant certificates and transcripts obtained
during the last academic year, in order to prove your academic progress.
Please note that applications via e-mail will not be accepted!

Selection Procedure
Successful candidates will be chosen taking into consideration the application package mentioned above. The candidates will be
selected by a committee chaired by the Vice-President of the European Forum Alpbach, Prof. Erich Gornik.

Selection Results
The scholarship holders will be informed by e-mail at the beginning of June at the latest. Please make sure to mention an e-mail
address in the application form that is valid from March to August. The European Forum Alpbach disposes of an adequate allocation of
student accommodation and will handle your room booking if you are granted a scholarship. Therefore, it is not necessary for you to
reserve accommodation prior to the announcement of the selection results.
